Day 1 of our Japan trip

Day 1 of our Japan Trip:

Our Japan trip was a memorable one. I have a special bond with Japan as it was the first foreign country I ever visited back in 2011 when I was a PhD student in IIT Bombay, Mumbai. That was an official visit. Ever since I came back from Japan, I wanted to go back and visit it again. My wife also loves Japan and we decided to visit Japan in 2018. It was February 2018 when we finally took off for Japan.

In 2018, we were living in Taiwan. We lived in Tainan city, Taiwan. We boarded a bus from Tainan city to reach Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport near Taipei (Capital of Taiwan). Our flight was in the morning around 9:30AM. We reached airport around 5AM. We checked in our baggage, received boarding pass and reached in the departure hall around 7AM. It was too early. We had some rest on the chairs. As we did not sleep in the previous night, we were feeling very sleepy. Around 9AM, it was announced that the flight is delayed because of the late arrival of the aircraft. We decided to roam around the airport as we were getting bored of sitting and getting sleepy. The flight finally took off around 11AM. We reached Narita International Airport around 2:30 PM local time.

After de-boarding the flight we cleared immigration and collected our baggage. I love Japanese people, they are just awesome. They are so polite. We headed for train station at T2. We purchased our train tickets and boarded the train to Nippori station. Here, we purchased prepaid card for our travel in Japan. It was Pasmo card.

Our hotel (Sakura hotel, Nippori) was around 700 m from the station. We took west exit and reached the hotel. It was evening by the time we reached the hotel. The hotel people were very welcoming. We checked-in and received our room key.

Our hotel

I was planning to buy a SIM card for internet access during our Japan trip. So, we got refreshed and walked back to Nippori station and boarded a train to Akihabara, electric town of Tokyo. There are two major shops selling SIM cards, BIC camera and YODOBASHI camera. We purchased from YODOBASHI camera shop. This is in a shopping mall adjacent to the station.

We were very hungry and we looked for an Indian restaurant. We located one Indian restaurant on the top floor of YODOBASHI camera mall.
We came back from Akihabara and reached hotel. We were tired and had a nice sleep that night.

How to add two or more YouTube channels to one Adsense account?

As you might know Google does not allow more than one Adsense account, however, you can have as many YouTube channels as you wish. In this blog I will explain in easy steps how to add two (may be generalized to more than two) YouTube accounts to one Adsense account.

Step 1) Sign in to your Adsense account.

Step 2) Click on the 'Settings' present in the left menu tree (as shown in pic below)

Step 3) Click on the 'Access and Authorization' and then click 'User Management'. Further put the email address of the account you want to add to the Adsense account and click 'invite' similar to as I have connected my other email account (as shown below)

Step 4) Now check the email address you just put in the last step and click on the link given in the email and accept the invitation to associate itself to the said Adsense account.

Step 5) Now go to the YouTube account of this account (which you want to add to Adsense account) and click on the 'Creator Studio' just below the account profile picture.

Step 6) Click on the 'Channel' in the left menu tree and then click on 'Monetization'

Step 7) First you will need to enable monetization to your YouTube account and then click on the Adsense association link. If you have already tried to connect your YouTube account to one of the Adsense account, then click on 'Review or Change Adsense association'.

Step 8) Now click on the 'CHANGE' just below the account settings as shown below:

Step 9) Now you will have option to connect YouTube account and Adsense account. Now log in with the email and password of your current account (which you are trying to connect to Adsense account). Accept the association and that's it. Now your second YouTube account is connected to the Adsense account.

Cheers!!!!!!!

Instrument I/O Assistant in LabVIEW showing error?

If the instrument I/O Assistant driver in LabVIEW not showing error, then follow the steps:

Step 1: Uninstall NI-VISA driver from the computer.

Step 2: Uninstall NI-488.2 driver from the computer.

Step 3: Uninstall instrument I/O Assistant driver.

and reinstall all three.
It will solve the problem.

NOTE: The instrument I/O Assistant driver is included in NI-VISA driver package. Make sure you select instrument I/O Assistant driver while reinstalling NI-VISA driver.

How to convert magnetic moment in emu/g to Bohr magneton?

We can convert the magnetic moment in emu/g (cgs unit) to Bohr magneton (SI unit) easily as explained below:

As we know that 1 emu = 1*e-3 J/T (* represents the multiplication sign, e-3 represents 10 raised to the power 3)
and 1 Bohr magneton = 9.27402*e-24 J/T

So 1 emu = 1.078*e+20 Bohr magneton

Now we need to find the mass of 1 formula unit (f.u.) of the compound.

e.g. For Ho2Ir2O7, we will write the respective molar masses:

Mass of 1 mole of Ho = 164 g

Mass of 1 mole of Ir = 192.2 g

Mass of 1 mole of O = 16 g

So mass of 1 atom is obtained by dividing by avogadro's number = no. of atoms in one mole of an atom (6.023 *e+23)

Mass of 1 Ho atom= 164.9/6.023*e23 = 27.378* e-23 g

Mass of 1 Ir atom = 192.2/6.023*e23 = 31.911* e-23 g

Mass of 1 O atom = 16/6.023*e23 = 2.656* e-23 g

Mass of 1 f.u. of Ho2Ir2O7 = [2(27.378) + 2(31.911) + 7(2.656)]* e-23 = 137.17*e-23 g

Now Moment of 1 f.u. = moment in emu/g * mass of 1 f.u. in g
                                      = moment in emu
Now we multiply the result by  factor 1.078*e+20 (1 emu = 1.078*e+20 Bohar magneton), we get the the magnetic moment in Bohr Magneton.

So three simple steps:

1) Calculate mass of one f.u. of the respective compound

2) Multiply moment in emu/g by mass of one f.u.

3) Further multiply by a  factor 1.078*e+20

Please leave comment if I missed something.

Thanks.

How to install MS Office from .ISO file without burning the image file on a CD/DVD?

If you have obtained a copy of MS Office from your institute as an .ISO file (image file), there are two ways to install the software:

1) Conventional way: Burn the .ISO image file using a commercially available software (like Nero) to a CD/DVD, depending on the size of the file. Usually size will be more than 700 MB, so you may need a DVD.

2) Easy way: Install Daemon lite program, which is available freely for windows and it will mount the .ISO image file automatically. You can now access set up file (.EXE) without burning the the file on a DVD).

To activate the product run the license file Office2016reg.bat (Windows batch file). Right click on this file and run as an administrator. That's all your copy of MS Office is activated.

Remember: You will need to reactivate the MS Office every six months (180 days) to keep using it. You will just need to run Office2016reg.bat file again to reactivate this product.

Please let me know your comments, if I missed something.

If you connect your TV with your laptop and the sound is still coming from the laptop speakers, follow these steps:

1) Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage audio devices (under Sound)

2) You will find your TV speakers listed there and select them as default playback device.

That's it. Now whenever you will connect your laptop with your TV, the TV speakers will be the default playback.
